Red Dead Redemption is a western action adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and released by Rockstar Games. It is the spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver in 2004, the second game in the Red Dead series, which was released in May 2010 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The background of Red Dead Redemption is John Marston, a former prisoner whose wife and son were held hostage by the government and employed as guns as ransom during the decline of the US border in 1911. With no choice, Marston began to bring three members of his former Gang to justice.
Playing games from the third person perspective in the open world enables players to interact with the game world in their spare time. Players can ride or hike through the virtual world (virtual western United States and Mexico versions). Gunfight emphasizes the game mechanism of the shooter, called "dead eye", which allows players to mark multiple targets of the enemy in slow motion. The game uses moral system, through which the player's behavior in the game will affect his character's reputation and reputation level, as well as other characters' response to the player. The game includes online multiplayer mode, allowing up to 16 players to participate in cooperative and competitive games in single player game settings.
Red Dead Redemption, which took five years, is one of the most expensive video games ever. The visual effect of the game, dynamically generated music, dubbing, game playing methods and stories are all well received. By 2017, the number of the game has exceeded 15 million. It has won several year-end honors, including the game of the year awards from a number of game publications, and is regarded by critics as one of the greatest video games of all time. After the game was released, some downloadable additional content was released. Red Dead Redemption: undead nightcare, which was later released as an independent game, added a new single player game experience, in which Marston sought to cure the infectious zombie plague, which spread throughout the West. Game of the year with all other content was released in October 2011. The prequel "Red Dead Redemption 2" was released in October 2018, and has been highly praised.
Red Dead Redemption is a Western themed action adventure game played from a third person perspective. Players control John Marston and complete the mission (linear scene with goal setting) to complete the story. Outside of the mission, players are free to roam the open world. Players can use a variety of guns to interact with the environment and engage the enemy. Different kinds of horses are the main means of transport, each with different attributes. These horses must be tamed to use them. Players can use trains for fast travel, but they can also stop trains by threatening or killing passengers or drivers. The game's undeveloped land accounts for the largest part of the game world, with a variety of uneven landscapes, occasionally tourists, bandits and wildlife. Urban settlements range from isolated farmhouses to crowded towns. In addition to the western United States, players can also travel through the fictional Mexican state bordering the United States.
In addition to following the main storyline, players will witness and be able to participate in the random events they encounter while exploring the game world. These include public executions, ambushes, help seeking, encounters with strangers, passing shootings and dangerous animal attacks. For example, if a group of people shoot at a town in the air, Marston can kill them and gain honor and fame for protecting the town. Players can also participate in optional side events, most of which will give them money. These side events include duels, in which players have to draw cards faster than their opponents; bounty hunting, where Marston can look for bounties on these bounty posters; herbal medicine collection, including the collection of exotic plants from around the game map for use by town medical staff; gambling, where people can play games such as poker and five finger fillets; and hunting, where players can kill the wild Animals and skinning.
"The great escort of the wilderness: Redemption" uses a moral system to enable players to gain positive or negative honors. Honor can be gained by making morally positive choices, such as outlawing lawbreakers alive or freeing women from kidnapping. Crime or other negative choices will reduce the overall honor standard of players. This is used in conjunction with another system (reputation), which influences people's response to Marston's honorary identity. If Marston has little honor, non player characters will feel insecure around them. If they have a high sense of honor, other characters usually greet them and feel safe around them. They will also get discounts, more pay for their work and other bonuses in some stores. A very low honor level can cause the town's premises to close its doors when Marston arrives. In order to solve this problem, they can disguise themselves by wearing headscarves when committing crimes; or, the very negative or criminal reputation guarantees that players are greatly respected and discounted by bandits and fencers in criminal hiding places such as "rogue landing".
