Dresser

A short boy is a dresser, dresser, or duchess term for an American collector. It is a small table with one or two rows of drawers, as opposed to a tall or tall drawer.

In England and the United States, short boys and tall boys are the favorite works of the 18th century. Short boys are most often used as dressers, but sometimes as side tables. It is usually made of oak, walnut or mahogany, with brass handles and keyhole covers at the front of the drawer. In Queen Anne, early Georgia and Chippendale, the more elegant examples are usually open legs, carved knees, slippers or claw balls. On the front of some examples, scallop shaped shells are also carved under the central drawer.

Another term for a dresser with a mirror is vanity, which is used to paint cosmetics or fashion accessories.
