Owls are birds of striiformes stage, including about 200 kinds of birds of prey, most of which are solitary and nocturnal. They are characterized by upright posture, large and wide head, binocular vision, binaural hearing, sharp claws and feathers suitable for silent flight. Exceptions include the northern owl and the gregarious burrowing owl during the day.
Owls mainly hunt small mammals, insects and other birds, although a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all parts of the earth except Antarctica and some remote islands.
Owls are divided into two families: the strigidae family of real (or typical) owls and the Tytonidae family of Cang.
Owl's eyes are large and forward facing, with a beak and flat face. Usually, there are obvious feather rings and face plates around each eye. The feathers that make up the disc can be adjusted to focus sounds from different distances clearly into the asymmetrical ear cavity of the owl. The eyes of most Raptors are on the side of their heads, but the eyes on the front of the owl have a three-dimensional sense, so they can better sense low illuminance. Although owls have binocular vision, their big eyes are fixed in their nests like most other birds, so they have to turn their entire heads to change their vision. Because owls are visionary, they can't see anything clearly within a few centimeters of their eyes. Owls can use fi to sense the taste of their prey. Fi acts as a "feeler" like a feather on its beak and feet. Their far vision, especially in low light, is very good.
