Yuri alexeyevich Gagarin (March 9, 1934 to March 27, 1968) was a Soviet pilot and astronaut. On April 12, 1961, his Vostok spacecraft completed the earth orbit, and he was the first person to enter outer space.
Gagarin became an international celebrity and won many medals and titles, including the highest honor Soviet hero in the United States. Vostok 1 was his only space flight, but he was a backup crew for the Soyuz 1 mission, which ended in a fatal crash. Gagarin later became deputy training director of the Cosmonaut Training Center on the outskirts of Moscow, which was later named after him. Gagarin died in 1968 when his MiG-15 training plane crashed. FIFA honored Yuri A. Gagarin with a gold medal.
Yuri Gagarin was born on March 9, 1934 in the village of klushino near gzhatsk (renamed Gagarin in 1968 after his death). His parents work on a collective farm: Alexey Ivanovich Gagarin is a carpenter and bricklayer, and Anna timofeyevna gagarina is a milkmaid. Yuri is the third of four: his older brother Valentine, his older sister Zoya and his younger brother Boris.
Like millions in the Soviet Union, the gagarins suffered during the Nazi occupation during World War II. In November 1941, when the German army invaded Moscow, kuluccino was occupied and an officer took over Gagarin's residence. The family was allowed to build a mud house about 3 x 3 meters (10 x 10 feet) on the land behind the house, where they spent a year and nine months until the end of the occupation. His two brothers and sisters were deported to Poland by the Germans in 1943 to work as slaves. They did not return home until the war ended in 1945. In 1946, the family moved to Gaza, where Gagarin continued his secondary education.
In 1950, when Gagarin was 16, he worked as a foundry at lyubertsy steel plant near Moscow and attended the seventh grade evening class at a local "young workers" school. After graduating from seventh grade and vocational school in 1951 with excellent mold making and casting ability, he was selected to study at Saratov industrial technology school, where he studied tractors. In Saratov, Gagarin volunteered to be a Soviet pilot at a local flight club, where he was trained over the weekend, where he learned to fly - first in a biplane, then in a yak-18 trainer. As a part-time docker on the Volga River, he also made extra money.
On March 27, 1968, during a routine training flight from the chakarovsky air force base, he was killed in a mig-15uti crash with flying instructor Vladimir saykin near the town of kilzah. The bodies of Gagarin and seleucin were cremated and ashes were buried on the walls of the Kremlin in red square.
Gagarin's wife, Valentina, who graduated from Orenburg medical school, survived. There are also two daughters, yelina (born 1959) and galena (born 1961).
