Pelicans are a genus of large waterbirds that make up the family qianniaceae. They are characterized by a long beak and a large throat pouch, which are used to devour prey and drain water from the contents from the SC. They are mainly pale feathers, with the exception of brown and Peruvian pelicans. Before the breeding season, the banknotes, pouches, and bare skin of all species become bright. Eight living Pelican species are found worldwide, ranging from tropical to temperate regions, although they are absent in South America, the polar regions and the high seas.
For a long time, pelicans related to pelicans, CORS, tropical birds, pelicans and Bo birds are now considered to be most closely related to the mouth and hamerkop, and arranged in the shape of bird legs. Ibis, spoonbills, herons and bleak brine have been classified in the same order. Fossil evidence of pelicans can be traced back to the remains of beaks at least 30 million years ago, very similar to the beaks of modern species found in French Oligocene strata. They are thought to have evolved in the old world and spread to America. This is reflected in intrageneric relationships, as the eight species are divided into old world and new world lineages.
Pelicans often enter inland and coastal waters, feed mainly on fish, and catch them on or near the water surface. They are gregarious birds that travel in groups, cooperate in hunting, and breed in colonies. Four species with white feathers tend to nest on the ground, while four species with brown or gray feathers mainly nest on trees. The relationship between pelicans and humans is often controversial. These birds are persecuted by competition for commercial and recreational fishing. Due to habitat destruction, disturbance and environmental pollution, their population has decreased, and three species are protected. They also have a long cultural significance in mythology, Christianity and heraldic portraits.
